Well the show a few weeks ago at Rascals went so well they have asked us back for the end of September. They said they took in more money at the bar the night we played, than any other Thursday since the clubs opening! I would just like to say thanks to everyone for coming out. It was a lot of fun to see so many faces we haven't seen in some time. And of course all the regulars. You guys rule! We have been recording a lot of new material lately and hopefully I'll be able to get it onto the web site soon. Jamie has been very busy lately. I also would like to thank everyone for the awesome suprise party, I had no idea I don't know how you guys were able to keep it from me but you did I had no clue. I hope everyone had a good time. I know I did well thats it for now. See ya soon / Moose

well the CD is finally done so we've thrown together a party to celebrate the release. The date is Sat. April 9th, and it will be held at VFW hall 2619, 52 Eisenhower Parkway in Roseland. You are free to bring your own alcohol or beer, but we will have a couple of kegs (Coors Light and Bud) for those of you who aren't that picky, oh and of course plenty of music. We will also be giving away a brand new Fender electric guitar to one lucky attendee! So spread the word. It should be a good one and were looking forward to seeing you all there.

Myself, Charlie, my brother and a few friends celebrated my  **rd birthday by catching Eric Johnson at Mexicali Blues in Teaneck tonight. As if it wasn’t enough seeing one guitar legend this night, another walked in the door prior to the show starting. We were standing by the bar enjoying a couple of cold ones, when none other than LES PAUL strolls in!! How fucking cool is that?! Now this is a man in his early 80’s…..a true guitar legend….who ended up hanging out for the whole show plus three of the four encores! Unbelievable! I could go on for paragraph after paragraph on the influence this man has had on just about anyone who plays (and especially records) electric guitar. Just being in the same room with this man was an honor. Even though we didn’t get to talk to him, I’ve been told by a good friend who has, that he is one of the humblest, gracious men he has ever met.  Les, I wish you many years of continued good health and fantastic guitar playing!

Oh yeah…..EJ played an amazing gig as usual! He played some old gems and also premiered some new tunes from his soon to be released CD (which may or may not be a double CD). For the gear heads out there, he played one of his old 50’s Strats and his ’62 SG through a full plexi panel Marshall stack, along with a couple of Fender combos. Of course he had his infamous pedal board, which included, amongst other things, a Fuzz Face, Tube Driver and the old standby, tube Echo Plex

Anyone who follows Eric Johnson’s career knows that this man takes a LONG time to finish a recording. As I recall, the time span between Ah Via Musicom and Venus Isle was 10 or 11 years!! Man……wonder how the record company felt about that?!! I guess someone with that kind of virtuosity carries a little bit of clout! A good time was truly had by all.

Our gig tonight went well in spite of the problems encountered with the sound mix. As mentioned in the past, there no real sound checks when playing these “Battle” gigs and, believe me, we end up paying the price! This particular night the guitars were screaming in the monitors and, as usual, there wasn’t enough of the vocals. But regardless, we persevered and were rushed through our set (which only lasted about twenty five minutes). Sometimes we wonder if it’s worth the effort of loading the equipment in and out for the chance to play only a few songs.

On a good note, we did take second place (again) and were asked back to pay on the 6th of June. We’re starting to wonder exactly how many of these “rounds” there are actually going to be, and whether we want to continue to play them. Especially since they charge a $10 cover and the bands end up not seeing any of that money. Makes you wonder. We’re still debating whether to sign on for the next round. Check the website out for updates.

Charlie and I hung out with some old friends, drank a few beers and jammed at Hathaways in Bloomfield today. It’s always a blast to get together with old friends, jam and shoot the shit. The Usual Suspects and Eugene’s Axe got things going and we jammed close to midnight. Keep your eyes and ears out for Chris from Usual Suspects because this guy has got “the shit” man. He’s, without a doubt, one of the best players I’ve come across in a long time. A really great guy who plays an AWESOME slide guitar. The boys from Overboard were also on hand. Make sure to catch them at their regular gig at Pub 46 in Clifton because they really know how to get the crowd movin’. Many thanks to all involved for a great day and some really great music. Life is good!

With Paul
in
Europe, we put our noses to the grindstone and began laying down tracks for an as yet untitled new song. It’s very guitar heavy with some great hooks and a really cool middle eight. The guitar work in this section is very reminiscent of the stuff I grew up listening to. It’s always a rewarding experience to build a song up from it’s foundation, piece by piece. I always marvel at how well things sound when we’re done and the song is mixed and mastered. We’re really working hard to get the new release finished by the summer and we’re all really looking forward to YOUR response! I can honestly say that’s it’s some of the best stuff we’ve ever done.

Our gig at the Whiskey Bar tonight went really well. We shared the bill with two really good bands, Bamm Hollow and Dibs. It was part of the Hoboken Battle of the Bands and playing these kind of “Battle” gigs is never easy. There’s NEVER a sound check and we’re usually in the middle of the roster, which means we’re always rushed to set up and breakdown. I guess you get used to it after awhile. Regardless, we came through in spades. We had a great time and even had our set recorded (Thanks Mick!). It’s always a tense moment when first listening back to a live recording, but I feel we sounded really good. A moment preserved in (Quick
) time if you will! Charlie was on fire, as evidence by the fact that he broke TWO strings in the last song (Law and Politics)! I can honestly say as a guitar player that this very rarely happens unless you’re REALLY having a good time!  We continue to get tighter and tighter with each gig and I think the recording bears this out.

Saturday night went great we were at Images in Fairview. Lorenzo from Stepping Out Magazine was in the house shooting photos for an upcoming issue. Lots of cool photos were taken. He is going to get us some copies to post on the site, he took lots of band shots as well as many crowd shots. Vickie, Rob and Justine some old friends stopped by unexpectedly (I know that's spelled wrong but I'm doing the best I can) which was a pleasant surprise. Lydia and Chris were there and Lorenzo got some very interesting photos of Lydia and Jamie that I'm hoping to get a hold of. The set went well and Marcella invited us back for another show so were working on a date for that. Paul finished final mixes of 5 of the new tunes over the last 2 weeks, so were that much closer to getting the new record done. We have the battle at The Whiskey Bar in Hoboken coming up on the 31st of March, then May 2nd back at Just Jakes in Montclair for round 2 of that battle, and then we will spend some time finishing up the record. I'm trying to get the rest of the guys to make some contributions to the diary so hopefully you'll be hearing from them soon. Well that's it for now. Hope to see you all on the 31st at the Whiskey. See Ya Soon

Wednesday, February 25, 2004

Sunday night we were at Just Jakes in Montclair. The show went excellent, great crowd for a Sunday night. The sound at the place was exceptional. We hooked up with an old friend Nicky DeBerto at the show, haven't seen Nick in a while, but I'm glad he's back around again. We had a lot of good times in the past and I'm sure were going to have many more in the future. Bizz and Mel came down along with Cheryl, plus the usuals Dan and company. My mom and dad even came down.

We spent last Saturday mixing down some of the new material at Gizmo Post a state of the art recording studio on 7th Ave. in Manhattan. Paul is an audio engineer at the facility and he has access to the place whenever they have an open time slot in one of the suites. The stuff is sounding great. I can't wait to finish the new album, and get some of the new material out there. We've been promoting relentlessly in Hoboken over the last month, and it has been paying off. Hits on the web site have nearly tripled over the last 3 weeks. We've also been thinking about re-recording 1 or 2 of the songs off the first album. The songs have changed so much with the input if the full band I'm interested to hear what they would sound like recorded in there current state.
Well anyway we have nothing booked until the Images show on March 13th., but we will keep busy recording, mixing, promoting and rehearsing , not to mention trying to keep this web site updated in the meantime.
Hope all is well, See Ya Soon

Something I got to say. Need to vent.
It just amazes me how people that you have known for years , that you consider a friend, someone you would do anything for, someone who you enjoy there company and assume they enjoy yours. Someone who you have watched their children grow, attended Christenings, bachelor parties, birthdays, house warming etc. can email me and say "can you please take me off your stupid mailing list!". or block any emails coming from the band. It's not like I bombard anyone with emails. If we have a show I email the week of the show and then the day of the show. It's not like we play 3 or 4 times a week either. We're talking maybe 4 emails a month, and I'm not pressuring anyone to go to the gigs either. It's just this is what is important to me , just like your kids , your wedding, your anniversary is what is important to you. Friends are supposed to be interested in what's going on in one another's lives. I would never tell someone to "stop inviting me to your stupid Christenings or birthday parties" , because I know that it is important to you. So I'd appreciate it, if you are truly a friend, you don't treat something that is important to me as trivial bull shit. You don't have to come but if you are on the list because you are my friend please don't ask me to stop inviting you. Thanks. The people I am referring to know who they are.
P.S. For anyone else who may have signed the mailing list while drunk at some bar one night and would like to be removed feel free to drop me an email and I will remove you from the list.

First off I'd like to thank everyone for coming out to the Underpass Friday night it was a great night . The show went well. The place was packed. We were on schedule for the first time ever which meant a lot of you missed some of the set. Usually if they say your going on at 10 that means more like 10:30/11:45 but they pretty much stuck tight to the schedule and we went on exactly 10:00, but we did get to do a full hour anyway.
Been very busy lately. We were supposed to head over to Gizmo a post production studio where Paul is an engineer to mix down the new tunes, but I screwed up while moving the data files to a removable drive I accidentally deleted the vocals on 2 of the tracks. So I had to spend Saturday afternoon re-recording the vocals for Take Me Back and Move On. Actually I'm kind of glad it happened. I think the new vocals came out much better than the old ones. So anyway it looks like we won't be going into Gizmo till next week instead.
Been doing a lot of promotion in Hoboken over the last couple of weeks. Handed out lots of CDs at The Whiskey Bar to promote the Battle of the Bands show on March 31st and left stacks of CDs at Tunes on Washington St. the record store right next to The Whiskey. That along with the weekly Aquarian adds seems to be paying of , we are getting lots of hits on the site
Also been trying to get to all the photos you guys have been sending me for the site. Thanks to Jamie DeBerto who is going to be helping out with the site now. She does this web stuff for a living, what takes me 3 hours to complete she can do in 30 minutes. Slowly but surely we will get all the photos posted. Last week we had our annual Super Bowl party. Lots of food , beer, music, and football. Some pics from the party are up.

Thanks to everyone for braving the cold and coming down to Willies last Thursday it was a great show. First off I'd like to give a shout out to the guys and girls in the back shooting pool, dancing, singing and having a grand old time. I didn't get their names but they did sign the e-mail list. Hope to catch them again at the next one.
Steve made it down for load in; we were worried he might be late so we bought the acoustics just in case we had to do a first set without him. Earlier in the day Steve was in the studio laying down drum tracks for another band he works with and we were a little nervous that if he hit traffic or snow or something he might not make it to Willies on time. As it turned out Steve made it on tome and the show went great. Steve even wound up doing a half a set on percussion with Sasha one of the other bands on the bill that night. We also hung out with Dominick and Jamie from Eugene (www.eugenerock.com). They were in the club promoting the release of their new record "Escaping The Paparazzi" and release party at Maxwell's the following night.
Friday night I made it down to Maxwell's to check out Eugene's set, hand out some CDs, and do a little promotion. The place was packed and the band kicked ass.
Monday the 26th I got a call from the Whiskey bar in Hoboken for their annual battle of the bands competition. We made it through the first phase, the songwriting portion of the competition and are scheduled for Wednesday March 31st at the Whiskey for the 1st round of live competitions. Results of the competition can be tracked at www.whiskey-bar.com. Looking forward to seeing everyone the 31st.
Spoke with Jay from Another Day Ruined (www.anotherdayruined.com) about maybe doing the March 13th show at Images with us. Jay his drummer Ox and I go way back and it would be fun to do a show with those guys again.
Well that's enough for now hope to see you guys next Friday at The Underpass in Elmwood Park. See Ya

Happy New Year everybody. It's Thursday morning and I got lots to talk about! First off about a week ago I had the opportunity to do an interview and sample some new material for cyberstormradio.com the station is broadcast world wide and the interview will be aired at numerous time slots for convenient listening times world wide. Also while up at the station which broadcasts out of Jefferson, NJ we checked out a club up that way called Sneaky Petes. They are more geared toward the cover stuff but I think we might go over ok there. We handed out some CDs and talked with the booking agent, we'll see what happens.
Then on Tuesday I went down to Victors and we rehearsed some cover stuff we are going to do at our friend Karens party we will be jamming at next weekend. After a few hours of rehearsal we went to a club in Linden, NJ called The Cup and met with the owner Dan about some gigs down there and handed out some CDs . It's a real nice place there's 2 rooms the upstairs room with live original music and downstairs for all you John Travolta types there's a dance club where you can dance the night away. I should here back from him in the next couple of weeks with some tentative dates.
I am also in the process of speaking to some people about shooting a video for 1 of the tracks of the new record. I have a director in mind that I would really like to work with. I will be speaking to him some time this week, hopefully he's available and interested in working with us on this project.
Well it's 2004 now and I am going to do everything humanly possible to make shit happen for this band ! So buckle up and hold on tight cause it's gonna be one hell of a year.

What's up everyone it's Sunday morning and this is the first opportunity I've had to write since the show Thursday at Willies. Friday night I went to see Vic jam with some friends at the assembly point in Belleville. The band "The Usual Suspects" do a lot of bluesy and classic rock material, with lots of slide guitar. They sounded great , and Vic did a couple of sets with them.
Well as far as Thursday the show went great. The place wasn't packed or anything as can be expected on a week night, but the acoustic stuff went over well. Most of our material translates very well to acoustic guitar because that's the way most of it was written. I can definitely see more of these shows in the future it was alot of fun. The second band for the night had cancelled so we got to play all our material without having to cut anything out. I think were going to have to start working on some more covers in case the opportunity to play all night ever arises again.
Saturday I spent some time posting the photos taken by nun other than the infamous Daniel Capolla the x-Playboy photographer who just happens to also be the president of our fan club and my web consultant when I get stumped with this internet shit, now if I could just convince him to carry some equipment! The photos were posted on the site as of yesterday morning. I am also trying to put together a page of all our friends at the shows. It should be up in the next couple weeks.
Oh and some more good news CD Baby the internet CD distribution service that carries our CDs just sold out of our product so I had another box of CDs shipped out to them yesterday. Although most of the sales are coming in from the Tri -State area where we have been gigging and handing out sampler CDs over the last 6 months, there have also been sales all around the country including California, Florida, and Tennessee to name a few.
Well, I've written quite a bit this morning, probably more than I wrote in 4 years of high school and I still have to type this into the computer. This sucks. I need a secretary. Hey, where's Michele? (just kidding) I hope to see you guys soon and have a happy and safe Christmas and New Year's and don't forget to keep Super Bowl Sunday open.

Me and Vic got together down at his place last night just me him and 2 acoustic guitars to work out some stuff for next Thursdays show at Willie McBrides. The band will also be back at Willie McBrides on Thursday Dec. 18th. We have been rehearsing a rare acoustic set for the evening. It should be an interesting evening.

Can you say Boone! well the Yanks pulled it off last night in dramatic fashion once again. It was a great evening all around the bar was packed. The place was going crazy as the Yanks took game 7 from the Red Sox. Sorry about the abbreviated set, but we felt it just wouldn't be right to take the stage with the Yankee season on the line. The show went great I think we are getting a little more comfortable with each other and the material live. I have to call Joe from the Underpass this week hopefully he'll give us a weekend show. Thanks again to everyone for coming out. See ya soon

Hello again boys and girls just wanted to remind you all we will be at Willie McBrides in Hoboken next Thursday the 16th I was at Willie McBrides last night to check out the bands and watch the Yankee game, you will be happy to hear Willies is equipped with numerous TV's, including 2 giant wide screens in case the series does happen to go 7 games. The entire play by play was broadcast throughout the game, while the bands performed in a separate but attached back room . You can also grab a table and enjoy something from Willies extensive dinner menu. Willies was packed with rabid Yankee fans with a couple Red Sox fans scattered about. I had a great time watching the game with a group of knowledgeable Yankee fans. Well I guess that's all I got for now hope to see ya next week.

It's been a while since I've written. This computer really sucks I couldn't get onto the web site to update it but were back! It's been a while where shall I begin? First of all we have a drummer and Steve Riker is his name. He has been with us since January of this year. We played our first gig together at Quinceys Junkyard on June 10th. It went well considering it was our first time out together and I was a little nervous having never done the lead vocal thing live before. We also played Sept. 25th at The Underpass in Elmwood Park. This show went excellent we had a real nice turnout and a great show, and Joe Beets the promoter at the club wanted us back for a weekend show. We also have a gig next Thursday Oct. 16th at Willie McBrides in Hoboken. We got that gig when I went to check out my buddy Jones's band last month. We've been to Hoboken almost every week since handing out CD's and hanging flyers. Also we are still working on the new CD we've completed the tracking on 5 of the songs, you can hear rough mixes of the tunes on the site. I hate typing so I think that will be all for now. One last thing, THANKS to everyone for coming out to the shows and showing your support, we really appreciate it.

I'll have to keep my fingers crossed, Steve is truly a professional and I'd love to have him aboard.

New Years Eve last night! Had a few people over for dinner. Paul & Jen, Dan & Tracy, Leslie & Larry. We started at about 9:00 didn't wrap up until about 5:00 am. It was a beautiful night, we had a fire going on the deck all night. I chopped the wood and Paul was the keeper of the flame. I'm surprised we didn't get a visit from the cops. The tunes were going all night and we were playing this game with this tower of wooden blocks and one by one you pull out blocks from the bottom until the tower comes tumbling down, oh and each block has one of those truth or dare things written on it for you to do so it was getting pretty interesting. Well anyway Happy New Year!

This is definitely going to be interesting! I also stopped at the Ringside Pub in Verona after rehearsal to drop off some sampler c.d.'s and met with Joe who works at a management company , I need to stop by tomorrow to give him a full length c.d.

Well, this will be my last entry for a little while. I will be very busy with rehearsals, plus putting this website together is very time consuming. While I was typing this entry Vic just called and we're on for this Thursday 8/15 for rehearsal. I will keep you posted.

Tonight I met with a bunch of friends at Fridays in Wayne, I spoke with Paul Holly, an accomplished bass player I've known for many years. I asked Paul if he might be interested in playing and he said he would definitely be interested so at the end of the night I gave him a disc. He should have the songs down in a few weeks and then we can start full band rehearsals.

This morning I dropped a C.D. off at Vic's house, and he called me tonight and said he would be interested in joining the band. So things are looking pretty good, although I still need a bass player.
