Father Time

My face it grows older every day
Just hopin that I never have to hear them say
What happened to the boy we used to know
How he looked so good when he was young

Seems like time has got it in for me
I try to fight it but it just won’t let me be
Feels like I’m always rowing against the tide
And there ain’t no place to hide

Some may die while basking in there pride
Me I’ll try to hold off Father Time
And if I see that he’s got it in for me
Maybe then I’ll try to grow old gracefully

The years fly by with no regard for me
Learned many lessons but none of them were free
Forgotten more than most will ever know
And so much more to go

I wake to find it seems I’ve lost another step
Approaching 40 is not easy to forget
Winter’s harsh I can feel it in my bones
Summer’s heat takes its toll

(Chorus)

I know I’m younger than I feel
Trying to keep it real
The clock it ticks my life away
That’s what they say
