Where'd The Time Go
Lyrics by Charlie Moose

First you go to work
Then you get some sleep
Not much time for having fun
Future looks so bleak
When we were young you know we
 didn't have a care
We wore some funny clothes
and we grew our hair
Where the time go
 It seems my life's been
Flying by so fast
Where'd the time go
You'd always thought it'd last
Times they have changed
Just take a look around
It's a Friday night
And yet there's no one to be found
Sometimes you wonder
When it all will end
Seems your life has passed you by
Where are all my friends
Morning rolls around
Just another day
Waiting for my time to come
Not much more to say
Spend my time just working
Work my life away
Got no time for having fun
No time left for play
Where'd the time go
It seems my life's been flying by so fast
Where'd the time go
You always thought it'd last
Where the time go
 It seems my life's been
Flying by so fast
Where'd the time go
You'd always thought it'd last
The main riff for this tune I came up with a few years back. I presented it to some of the guys but we never got around to doing anything with it. Finally I decided I was going to leave it as an instrumental centering around the melody in the solo guitar part. Then one day during playback I was fiddling around on the keys and I came up with the horn part in the chorus, and wrote the melody line for the chorus around that. Then came the lyrics. I was sitting in the control room overdubbing some of the bass tracks. The bass in this tune is a pretty cool walking thing and I was having some trouble getting a clean take. I started thinking about how in the old days I could find someone to put down bass tracks with a couple of phone calls but now everyone is either busy with work, kids, family, etc. I was thinking about how everything has changed and trying to figure out when it happens. It Seems like just yesterday we were all 25 years old Hanging out partying, everyone was in a band, we would spend weekdays at rehearsals in the loft we had rented in Jersey City, NJ, or in the studio recording new material with Jim & Jay at The Barge, or Tony Pomponio at Legend Studio's. We didn't have a care in the world, out at the clubs every weekend playing or promoting. We used to be able to make a couple of phone calls and the next thing you know you would have 50 people hanging out. WE thought those times would never end. My how wrong we were, now just to get a few people together it takes weeks of planning and dozens of phone calls, and there's still no guarantee everyone will show. Well I hope you enjoy this one and maybe the next time you have a party or get together planned with some friends and your boss calls you the night before and asks you to work you'll make the right decision -I know I will, Life's just too short.
